The Springfield-based firm, Kirkpatrick, Phillips and Miller, CPAs, PC, announced the following promotions from staff accountant to senior accountant. Beau S. Bar-rett, CPA, concentrates in assisting clients in the areas of profit-sharing, retirement plan, record keeping and cafeteria plan record keeping. Barrett graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Jill S. Hatfield, CPA, serves auditing, corporate and individual taxation clients in the financial institution industry with extensive accounting experience. Hatfield graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Barbara J. Houser, CPA, focuses on taxation and performing auditing procedures for clients in the manufacturing industry. She is an advisory board member for the Southwest Missouri State University Beta Alpha Psi Chapter and an American Cancer Society volunteer. Houser graduated from SMSU with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and a master of science in business

Kyle G. Hesemann and Amanda J. Tune joined the Springfield office of Baird, Kurtz and Dobson, CPAs, as staff accountants. They will assist with general tax, audit and accounting engagements. Hesemann and Tune are 2000 cum laude graduates from the University of Missouri-Columbia, with master's degrees in accounting. Both Hesemann and Tune participated in BKD's internship program and have joined the firm full-time after graduation.

Advertising

Sparlin Advertising announced three staff promotions. Julie Ramsey was promoted to the position of executive vice president. Ramsey, who joined the company in 1994 as an outside sales representative, is responsible for all sales functions of the company. Ramsey will also oversee the day-to-day business management of the agency's Joplin office.

Shari Beckley was named senior sales manager. Her responsibilities include managing sales operations and day-to-day business management of the agency's Springfield office.

Andrea McGehee is Sparlin Advertising's corporate controller. Responsible for the agency's financial stewardship and accountability, she manages the company's cash flow, receivables and payables in addition to other related duties.

Michael Cochran returned to full-time duty as media producer and writer for the Wannenmacher Advertising Company. A former editor of the West Plains Gazette magazine and program director for KGBX, Cochran has more than 20 years experience in broadcast media and journalism. He has been associated with Wannenmacher Advertising for the past 12 years.

Tania Miller joined the Wannenmacher Advertising staff as art director. Miller has nine years experience in graphic design as well as skills in multimedia presentations and video production.

Michele Litchy joined the Wannenmacher Advertising staff as secretary. Litchy is currently attending Springfield College with a major in business management.

Communications

Bradley S. Bauer joined Telec Inc. as a sales representative. Bauer will be responsible for evaluating clients' total communication needs and recommending solutions for seamless communication.

Education

Stu Dunlop joined the adjunct faculty of Webster University. Dunlop is the director of sales and marketing at Sandy USA. He will teach business policies and strategies in the MBA degree program.

Raymond Worley was named vice president for administration at Drury University. Worley, who earned undergraduate and graduate business degrees from Drury, has been the business manager for the athletic department, served as Drury's golf coach and was director of business services where he supervised budgeting, telecommunications, insurance, auxiliary enterprises and bond compliance.

Evangel University announced the addition of several full-time faculty members.

David Alexander, associate professor of history, holds a PhD from the Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio. Keith Hardy, assistant professor of physical education, holds a master of physical therapy degree from Southwest Baptist University-Bolivar.

George Humes, assistant professor of behavioral sciences is an EdD candidate at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colo. Martin Mittelstadt, assistant professor of biblical studies, is a PhD candidate at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.

Jean Orr, assistant professor of behavioral sciences, holds a PsyD from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, Springfield. Ava Pickard, assistant professor of behavioral sciences, holds a master of social work degree from the University of Texas-Artlington. Allen Poland, assistant professor of physical education, holds a master of science degree from University of Utah-Salt Lake City. Poland is also the Evangel Crusaders baseball coach.

Food

Joe Danforth of Lady Baltimore Foods announced his retirement at the end of September. He began his career with Lady Baltimore in Kansas City in 1974 as a part of the purchasing department. In 1978 he moved to operations and became vice president of operations later that year. In 1984 he relocated to Springfield and became vice president and general manager of Lady Baltimore.

Finance

Paul C. Rhea was named vice president and head of Firstar Bank's private banking group offices in St. Louis and Springfield and in Little Rock, Ark. Rhea, who has 15 years of financial services experience, most recently served as manager of Firstar's Town and Country private banking office. He began his career with Firstar in 1987, working in retail branch management, and joined the private banking group in 1994. Rhea graduated from Southwest Missouri State University and the Missouri School of Banking.

Paul Rice joined Sunbelt Business Brokers of the Ozarks as a full-time business broker. He recently attended the two-day professional business broker training program taught by the president of the Sunbelt network.

Laurel Chayer was promoted to the position of operations manager for Mid-Missouri Mortgage Company. She will be responsible for supervising all functions relating to the processing and closing of mortgage loans. Chayer has 13 years mortgage experience.

Lisa Schup-bach joined Mid-Missouri Mortgage Company as administration/mortgage specialist. She will be active in interest rate pricing, administrative reporting and loan program research. She will also be active in business development and organizational activities. Schupbach is a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University and has five years experience in mortgage lending and real estate closings.

Health Care

Denise Berg Eldred has joined the staff of the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross as the director of development.

Eldred graduated from Drury University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in communications. She most recently worked for Children's Miracle Network and the Boy Scouts of America.

Gary Pulsipher, president of St. John's Breech Regional Medical Center, in Lebanon, was named the regional vice president for rural hospitals of St. John's Health System in Springfield.

Pulsipher's position allows him to coordinate services between the smaller hospitals and St. John's Regional Health Center as well as support the mission of the organization in the rural areas surrounding Springfield.

Pulsipher received his master's degree in public administration from Brigham Young University and a bachelor of arts degree from Weber State University.
