H Design Group announced two staff additions. Brent M. Stevens joined H Design Group as a managing partner. Stevens was previously employed with JPS & Associates as project manager.
David R. Beach joined H Design as architectural intern and animation project manager. Beach's new responsibilities include managing projects with an emphasis on 3D computer visualization. Beach was previously an employee of Farnsworth Group.
Community
Kim Sutherland joined Big Bro-thers/Big Sisters of the Ozarks as a recruiter and special events coordinator. Sutherland's focus is recruiting volunteers to serve the organization's programs, which match children with mentors. Sutherland previously worked for the United Way doing event coordination, fund raising and development.
Finance
Richard J. Imhoff was promoted to vice president and trust officer of Empire Bank. His new responsibilities in-clude administration of investment management, personal trust and em-ployee benefit accounts throughout southwest Missouri.
Elizabeth Frisch joined Great South-ern Bank as assistant vice president of commercial lending. Frisch has 20 years of commercial lending experience. Her new responsibilities include originating and servicing commercial loans.
Service
Don Rosebrough joined Hewitt Well Drilling & Pump Service Inc. as general manager. In his new position, Rose-brough develops and maintains the company's daily operations in sales and customer service.
Technology
Mike Jansen was promoted to president of Encompass Electrical Technol-ogies in Kansas. Jansen's responsibilities include managing the general operations for the Kansas Business Unit in Lenexa and Wichita as well as Spring-field and Columbia. Jansen has been with the company for 17 years.
Awards & Achievements
Alicia Mathis, PhD, and Robert Wilkinson, PhD, associate professors of biology; and Shem Unger, biology graduate student, were awarded $30,000 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the project "Population Declines of Ozark Hellbenders." This project will examine two possible reasons for the lack of young hellbenders and declining population.
Amy Pezzani, executive director of Ozarks Food Harvest, accepted a $2,291.11 check from Gaynell Magers, co-owner of St. Louis Bread Co. and past Ozarks Food Harvest president. The money will help to feed area residents in need.
University of Missouri-Kansas City honored Springfield resident Rocky R. Levell with the outstanding alumni service award. Currently, Levell is the director of professional services/corporate clinical pharmacist at Community Hos-pices of America.
Inter-State Studio and Publishing Company, Sedalia, has been named Photo Imager of the Year by Photo-graphic Processing Magazine. Inter-State Studio and Publishing is the first school-portrait company to receive the award.
Mark Watkins earned the chartered financial analyst designation from the Association of Investment Manage-ment and Research. He has been a portfolio manager with Firstar for six years.
