Jeffrey D. Harter, MD, pathology, has joined St. John's Physicians & Clinics. Harter completed a surgical pathology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, prior to joining the St. John's medical staff. He received his medical degree in 1993 from the University of Texas-Galveston.
John D. Baurichter, DO, has joined St. John's East Sunshine Family Practice. Baurichter obtained his medical degree in 1989 at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City. He is board-certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Prior to joining St. John's, he was a family practice physician at Family Medical Center, Rogersville, and a staff physician at Columbia South Hospital.
Brian L. Mahaffey, MD, family practice, has joined St. John's and will be working in the Smith-Glynn-Callaway Medical Building, department of orthopedics. Mahaffey is board-certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Prior to joining St. John's, he was a clinical instructor and sports medicine fellow at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Mary Beth Kurz, MD, emergency medicine, has joined St. John's Physicians & Clinics. Kurz recently completed her residency at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She received her medical degree in 1994 from Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, Norfolk, Va.
Gail Wickman, office manager for the American Lung Association of Western Missouri, and Jerri Lynn Kyle were recently honored by Springfield staff members for 10 years of service with the association.
The Mercy Regional Health Foundation recently elected new officers to its board of directors: President J. Kevin Checkett, Carthage attorney; Vice President Christy L. Herrin, CFP with Edward Jones in Joplin; and Treasurer Anthony J. Greenwood, DDS, of Baxter Springs, Kan. Reappointed to the board were Robert M. Headlee, Sister Corita Holmes, Michael R. Kelly, Duane E. Myers and Daniel R. Stengel.
John W. Meyer, MD, of St. John's Physicians and Clinics, has received the Pediatrics Review and Education Program Education Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. This award recognizes AAP physicians who have earned 150 approved continuing medical education credits over three consecutive years.
Phillip Carr, MD, of St. John's Hammons Heart Institute is one of 30 leaders chosen to participate in a new educational fellowship program focused on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Carr is a member of the new class of Cardiovascular Health Fellows, which represents 19 states and includes physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and executive administrators.
Lynn Morris, pharmacist and owner of Family Pharmacies, attended the 11th annual Pharmacy Business Associates Conference in Kansas City July 18 and 19. Morris serves on the board of directors of the Pharmacy Business Associates, a buying group with more than 1,000 independent pharmacy owners as members.
Amy Wood, RN, CLCP, LNC, GCM, of the Springfield-based company MedPlans Inc., has joined the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers. The organization has more than 900 geriatric care managers as members throughout the United States who are committed to maximizing the independence and autonomy of seniors.
