Reading, Pennsylvania-based Penske Truck Leasing Co. LP has released a statement following a viral clip showing the apparent use of one of its trucks by a white nationalist group in Springfield this weekend.
The video, posted to Reddit on Saturday by user Longjumping_Half_952, appears to show members of the Patriot Front group being backed into a Penske truck near College Street and Grant Avenue. The video is described on Reddit as having taken place during Ozarks Pridefest, which was held in downtown Springfield on the same day. Also on Saturday was the so-called No Kings protest of President Donald Trump.
In its statement yesterday posted to Facebook, Penske officials said those involved are now banned from future rentals. The statement did not name the group or individuals involved.
"This incident is unacceptable," the statement reads. "We strongly condemn these individuals and their actions, which violate our rental agreement."
Penske Truck Leasing is a partnership of Penske Corp., Penske Automotive Group and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., according to Penske's website.
Canine-themed Big Dog Deli LLC opened; The Chicas Club got its start; and Burrell Behavioral Health debuted a new clinic in Marshfield.
no one has posted that these people showed up for any activity or protest. I am not in favor of them. it looks like they could have been in any space. maybe they just wanted to harm Penske's business. if you have any more info. i'm sure many would like the info.
Like the Ku Klux Klan, they’re scared to reveal themselves. Real patriots? Or just bigots?
