Penske Logistics is planning to temporarily lay off workers in Kansas City, Kansas.
Penske, which provides carriage services for a General Motors facility in the city, is following suit with the GM plant. Penske spokesperson Randy Ryerson said the layoffs would last between November and early 2025 as GM temporarily shuts down operations to prepare for the manufacture of electric vehicles.
“We serve the General Motors facility nearby that is being retooled for electric vehicles. Once the work comes back, we’ll be back," Ryerson told the Kansas City Business Journal.
