Penmac adds three new branches

Posted online
Downtown Springfield-based Penmac Staffing Services Inc. this month opened two new branches, with plans for a third in the Northeast.

The staffing provider opened a McDonough, Ga., office June 2, followed by the June 16 branch addition in Nixa. A New Jersey branch should open by mid-July, said Sara Corman, Penmac marketing manager.

The McDonough office south of Atlanta, led by staffing industry veteran Carlotta Van Houten, serves an existing, undisclosed distribution client in the area with plans to expand its base to Henry County and the Atlanta metropolitan area, according to a news release.

“McDonough, Ga., is one of the fastest growing areas in the country focused on distribution, and locating our services there plays very well with our plans for expansion. We are excited to bring our staffing recipe to the area and expect great things from the market," Penmac CEO Tim Massey said in the release.

The Nixa branch supports two existing offices in Springfield and would assist clients in communities south of the Queen City, according to Penmac Operations Vice President Stuart Stringer.

In Mount Olive, N.J., the company's first physical presence in the Northeast, Penmac will seek additional business and serve the same undisclosed client as the McDonough office, Corman said.

"Eastern New Jersey serves as the distribution hub for the most populated portion of the country," Massey said in the release. "Having the opportunity to establish ourselves here will allow tremendous growth for the company and our employees."

When Massey took over as CEO in October, he immediately charged the company with facilitating growth and boosting sales. He succeeded President Paula Adams as chief executive for the company founded by her mother, Patti Penny, in 1988, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Including the New Jersey office, the company will operate 30 branches in eight states. Last year, Penmac employed over 17,000 people and posted revenue of $96.5 million, Corman said.
