Pellham Phillips’ Larry Phillips, PE, with Jason Smith and Sy Shumaker, is the engineer for John Q. Hammons’ Springfield arena, slated for summer 2006 completion in Jordan Valley Park. Chuck Foster, AIA, Marek Krukowski, AIA, and John Luce, AIA, are architects for the project, and Cheryl Doran, NCIDQ, is the interior designer for the approximately 150,000-square-foot project. The city of Springfield selected Pellham Phillips to design the centerpiece of Jordan Valley Park. The arena, with an estimated cost of $20 million, willl be home to an as-yet-unnamed minor league hockey franchise. The arena will connect the new parking garage and expo center in Jordan Valley Park. It will include 27 luxury sky boxes, press facilities, locker rooms, sports training facilities and seating for 5,500. Loading and truck facilities will be included to access back-of-the-house operations. The project is in the design devlopment phase; a general contractor has not yet been chosen.
