Peeps candies to be available year-round

The yellow Easter-season candy Peeps will soon be available year-round, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Manufacturer Just Born will launch bite-sized alternately flavored versions of the candy May 1.

Peeps Minis will come in strawberry creme, chocolate creme and sour watermelon.

Euromonitor International estimates U.S. sales of Peeps have stood at about $63 million over the last two years. Matthew Hudak, an analyst with Euromonitor International told Businessweek, "It's stuck where it is now, so expanding Peeps beyond Easter makes sense."

Just Born also manufactures Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales. The company is the 11th-largest candy maker in the U.S.
