Paul Mueller announces another multimillion-dollar expansion

Amid construction of a multimillion-dollar expansion to its Springfield campus announced last year, Paul Mueller Co. (OTC: MUEL) is expanding its components products facility for the second time since 2023.

The Springfield-based stainless steel manufacturer announced in a news release yesterday that it intends to invest $17.9 million on a 20,000-square-foot expansion for its components products division. Mueller Co. in late 2023 broke ground on a nearly 11,000-square-foot expansion to the facility, which is housed at Mueller Co.'s headquarters at the intersection of Chestnut and Kansas expressways.

"This expansion increases the capacity for producing tank heads, cones and shells," Mueller Co. officials said in the release. "It will also allow the production of thicker materials to access new markets."

Ross Construction Group LLC is serving as general contractor for the components products project at 2306 W. Phelps St. designed by Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective, said Mueller Co. Chief Financial Officer Ken Jeffries via email. The targeted completion date is second-quarter 2026, he said, noting the first phase was finalized in March.

Mueller Co. is now eyeing an early 2026 completion for $22 million in expansion work following a groundbreaking ceremony held in August 2024. That project is set to bring a 100,000-square-foot expansion that would increase capacity for the assembly of large production modules, according to past reporting.

"They also support current and future co-workers’ opportunities for career development and highlight local investment within Springfield and beyond."
