The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership has launched a fund for female business owners along the Mother Road.
Through the Route 66 Extraordinary Women Initiative, the partnership is seeking to grant $1,000 apiece to at least 66 women in each state through which the highway runs. Partnership officials say the fund could generate more than $500,000.
The partnership is accepting donations to help fulfill the grants. The Mother Road turns 100 in five years.
