Gov. Mike Parson on Thursday signed a pair of bills expanding tax credits for foster and adoptive families and for donations to domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers and maternity homes.
House Bill 429 gives foster parents the opportunity to deduct up to $5,000 for a married couple. Adoptive parents can receive a tax credit of up to $10,000 for adoption expenses.
House Bill 430 increases the tax credit to 70% from 50% for donations to domestic violence shelters or maternity homes. Donations to rape crisis centers were added with a 70% credit.
