Parson signs Model Employer executive order

Gov. Mike Parson yesterday signed an executive order to make Missouri a Model Employer initiative state.

The classification, supported by the federal Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, is designed to help people with disabilities gain employment.

The initiative takes aim at data indicating only 37.1% of working-age individuals with a disability are employed. The executive order contains improved improved recruitment, hiring and retention strategies.
