Gov. Mike Parson is publicly disagreeing with the Missouri legislature on a plan that would scale back his call to raise the base pay for all state workers to at least $15 per hour.
“There is no team member in state government that is worth less than $15 per hour, and Gov. Parson remains hopeful that any supplemental budget bill sent to his desk will include the funds necessary to better pay Missouri’s public servants,” said Kelli Jones, spokesperson for Parson's office.
Republicans who control the House have endorsed a smaller increase, to $12 an hour, for workers who are not in direct care positions.
