Gov. Mike Parson yesterday laid out his plans for the legislature's special session, which he called to address violent crime.
He said he would prioritize increasing police ranks and funding witness protection programs. Other planned topics include police residency requirements for St. Louis and a rule change that would increase to a felony the sale of weapons to minors without the consent of their parent or guardian.
“One of the things we all know (is) the homicide rates are going up in our state,” Parson said. "Every day I don’t do this, someone else is dying out in the street.”
The session is scheduled to start Monday.
