Parson announces additional $209M in cuts

Gov. Mike Parson yesterday announced an additional $209 million in budget cuts.

He said $131 million will be cut from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, with the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development to lose $41 million.

"As difficult as these decisions are, we are experiencing an unprecedented economic downturn, which means we are having to make unprecedented adjustments in our budget," Parson said.
