Parks director Adams elected president of national group

Springfield-Greene County Park Board Director Jodie Adams has been elected president of the National Recreation and Park Association.

Adams previously served on the organization's board of trustees for six years, including three years on its executive committee.

"(Jodie) has supported the park and recreation movement and NRPA's mission on many levels throughout her career," NRPA Chair Lois Finkelman said in a news release. "Her expertise and leadership skills will help NRPA achieve its organizational goals and strategic plan."

Adams also has served on the NRPA American Park and Recreation Society's board, the annual Congress Program Committee, the Great Lakes Regional Council and the Council of State Affiliate Presidents. She is a former president of the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association and a former board member for United States Tennis Association.

Adams has been with Springfield-Greene County parks for 35 years and oversees 92 park sites, 1,000 programs and events, 40 facilities, a zoo and a $33 million operating budget, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
