Parks’ Adams receives Fellow Award

The Missouri Park & Recreation Association has awarded Springfield-Greene County Parks Director Jodie Adams with its highest honor, the Fellow Award.

The award is given to a parks and recreation professional who has shown excellence in promoting the industry on a statewide or national basis.

Adams has 32 years of experience in parks and recreation. She is a trustee with the National Recreation & Park Association and an MPRA board member.

As parks director, Adams is responsible for managing the staff for more than 90 park properties, 500 programs and activities and 40 facilities, operating on a $33 million annual budget.

The MPRA also gave the Friends of the Zoo of Springfield a Citation Award for its role in developing Dickerson Park Zoo’s master plan. Friends of the Zoo has raised more than $3.25 million for the zoo since 1981.
