Each tour will visit facilities and improvements that have been accomplished since the passage of a 2001 1/4-cent sales tax for city-county parks, as well as the sites of projects proposed under next week’s parks referendum. The Aug. 8 bond issue asks for a renewal of half of the 2001 tax and an additional 1/8-cent tax.
Because of the level of interest in the $50 million, five-year referendum, the board will conduct three free tours this week to acquaint citizens with the scope of the parks system. Tours will take place 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Wednesday, 5–9 p.m. Wednesday and 1–5 p.m. Friday.
Registration is required for the tours. To sign up, call (417) 864-1049.
