The Rex P. Kreider Jr. Park, located immediately southwest of Farm Road 190 and Cox Road in Greene County, is situated along the James River, with Rivercut Golf Course to the west.
The Kreider family donated 10 acres of property for the new park in honor of their father, Rex P. Kreider Jr., according to a park board news release. Family members, including daughter Deanna Kreider, will be at the dedication.
The property was made possible through the 1/4-cent sales tax for parks, approved by voters in 2001, and it is part of the natural resource area park identified in the Vision 20/20 comprehensive plan for parks. Future developments include a linear park trail, equestrian trail, a trailhead with public parking and a 17-acre park area.
Parking is available at the event site and at the Riverbluff Cave Field House, 2327 W. FR 190. Shuttles will be available.
