A rebranding effort that started last year following the 2023 acquisition of the Kum & Go convenience store chain is expanding to the Springfield area and Missouri.
Salt Lake City-based Maverik announced in a news release this morning that its 54 Kum & Go locations in Missouri would take on the Maverik name starting in March. The rebranding effort is slated for completion by this summer.
"We are excited to bring Maverik to new customers and bring a consistent experience in new markets for our current customers,” Maverik CEO Crystal Maggelet said in the release. “The new rebrands reflect our dedication to delivering excellent convenience store experiences across fuel, foodservice and inside-store offerings in all our locations from the Midwest to the West Coast.”
Kum & Go's presence in Missouri is largely centered around the Springfield area, with 33 locations noted within city limits on its website.
Two years ago, convenience store operator Maverik purchased Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go, adding around 400 locations in 13 states. That roughly doubled Maverik's store count, according to past reporting.
Maverik last year rebranded 133 Kum & Go stores to the Maverik name in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Oklahoma, according to the release. The company is in the midst of rebranding 40 stores in Oklahoma and 53 in Arkansas, and seven Michigan locations will be changed later this spring, officials say.
