Paralympic track star faces sentencing over girlfriend's death

South African Paralympic and Olympic track star Oscar Pistorius began his sentencing hearing today over the negligent killing of his girlfriend.

The 27-year-old athlete, whose lower legs were amputated as a baby, was convicted of culpable homicide last month for the Valentine's Day shooting of 29-year-old law graduate and model Reeva Steenkamp.

CNN reported this morning a psychologist at the hearing described Pistorius as a "broken man" following the incident in which Pistorius fired four 9mm rounds at what he's said he mistakenly believed was a home intruder.
