The founder of Papa John’s is stepping down as the pizza chain's CEO.
John Schnatter, 56, will continue as chairman in January when he hands the reins to Chief Operations Officer Steve Ritchie.
The company last month drew criticism after Schnatter publicly blamed the chain's subpar quarterly sales on NFL players' anthem protests.
