Panthers star Luke Kuechly retires

Posted online

NFL linebacker Luke Kuechly abruptly announced his retirement earlier this week.

Kuechly, 28, plans to exit the NFL with two years and $22 million left on his contract with the Carolina Panthers. During his career, he earned $63 million in salary, plus other cash from endorsement deals with Nike and PepsiCo.

It's unclear if Kuechly's injury history is a factor. He's had multiple concussions in the NFL.
