Panama reduces fuel prices in response to protests

Laurentino Cortizo, Panama's president, announced a reduction in fuel prices as the government faces protests against inflation and corruption.

Starting July 15, the price of gas for private vehicles will be reduced to $3.95 per gallon, a 24% drop from the end of June.

The country also is freezing rates for several other essential products.
