YOUR BUSINESS AUTHORITY
Springfield, MO
It is an independent nonprofit association of organizations composed primarily of women involved in business and the community. Each monthly meeting begins with members sharing information about their organization and ends with a different organization being in the spotlight. The spotlight allows each member organization more time to provide more detailed information about their organization.
How did you come to be involved with the organization?
I am the delegate for American Society of Women Accountants. Soon after I started attending the meetings, I filled a vacancy in the position of vice president. I was elected president for the year in June.
How many members are there, and who is eligible?
There are currently thirteen member organizations. Each individual member is a representative of a professional non-profit organization. Our Web site is at www.ozarksalliance.org.
What is the organization’s mission?
Our purpose is to provide a clearinghouse for information of interest to women that will help them advance their personal, professional and community goals.
As president, what is your role in achieving that mission?
My role is to plan the monthly meetings and follow up on items discussed. Since the alliance is a sharing of information, everyone is involved in the monthly meetings. I have a supportive vice president, secretary and treasurer who follow through on their responsibilities. This constant involvement makes my job easier.
In what ways do members benefit from participating in the organization?
The Alliance of Professional Organizations promotes member organizations through networking functions held each spring, designed to bring women from different groups across the Ozarks together. We serve to distribute information to women’s groups via meetings and our Web site, including scholarship information, job opportunities, career advancement, etc. Currently we are developing a survey of women in the Ozarks on their perception of women’s progress in the Ozarks.
Tell us more about yourself.

I am a CPA at Yates & Danielson LLP. I have been married to Dana for 14 years and we have a 12-year-old daughter, Anna. In my spare time I like to run, read, shop and trout fish. I am running in the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Phoenix in January 2005 with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
