What is your job?
Todd Chambers is owner/broker of Chambers Real Estate Services LLC, 3465 E. Stanhope Terrace, a commercial real estate firm licensed in Missouri and Kansas. He is a member of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors.
Please tell us about your company.
Chambers provides real estate brokerage services in retail, office, office/warehouse, multifamily, vacant land and investment properties, including 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, he said. He markets properties for sale or lease in Springfield, Ozark, Nixa and Republic. "My portfolio includes shopping centers, office buildings, vacant land and income-producing investment property. I exclusively represent individual investors, business owners, retailers and restaurateurs. ... I assist the client through the entire process from conducting a market survey in which I compile a list of properties that meets their criteria to negotiating the lease or contract."
What prepared you for work in your field?
After earning his business administration degree from Wichita State University, Chambers managed the Nabisco sales branch warehouse in Wichita for 4 1/2 years, during which he earned his master's degree. After working as a manager for Frito-Lay Logistics in Topeka "for a couple of years," he relocated to Springfield in 1993 and began his real estate career with a local firm.
What's your view of the commercial real estate market in our region?
"The (economic) stability here is especially evident in the commercial real estate arena," Chambers said. "I am currently representing several companies which are either relocating to larger properties or adding additional locations. Overall, the market is healthy. My company continues to grow."
What trends do you see now or anticipate in commercial real estate?
"I am very optimistic about the future of commercial real estate in the area," Chambers said, noting that he looks for "continued growth along the major corridors in and around Springfield." He added, "Due to the availability and relative low cost of land, I anticipate additional commercial growth in the northwest and north sections of Springfield, as well as the outlying communities."
What is the best part of your job or profession?
"The long-term personal and business relationships I have developed over the years," Chambers said. "Springfield is a great place to live and own your own business."
Can you tell us something about your personal life and family?
"My wife, Tammy, is also a native," Chambers said. "She is an elementary school teacher and is currently staying at home with our active 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Katy.
How do you like to spend your leisure time?
"I am a member of the Kiwanis Club of Springfield South, the City of Springfield Traffic Advisory Board and First & Calvary Presbyterian Church," Chambers said. "I enjoy spending time with my family and playing an occasional round of golf."
