President, Rivercut Inc. Rivercut Golf Community is a master-planned, 670-acre residential community with a Ken Dye 18-hole championship golf course owned and managed by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. Opened in 1998 and located four miles southwest of Springfield along the James River, Rivercut is the largest residential community in Greene County, zoned for 1,652 homes. Mitchell founded the Lake of the Ozarks Golf Council and served as its chairman from 1990 to 1995, and is a former chairman of tourism and public relations for the Missouri Hotel and Motel Association. He is a former member of the board of directors for the Lake of the Ozarks Marketing Council and the 1994 recipient of the "Wake up to Missouri" award for his travel promotion efforts. Mitchell has been a member of the Professional Golf Association since 1976 and has owned Dogwood Hills Golf Course and Resort in Osage Beach since 1980.

Education: Mitchell graduated from Crocker High School and attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg for two years.
Early career: Mitchell became a PGA professional golfer in 1976 and served as a club pro at Dogwood Hills in Osage Beach before buying a share of the course in 1980. Mitchell won the Gateway Team Play Championship in 1980 and 1990 and also qualified for the 1994 Gateway Nike Professional Series Golf Event while at Dogwood Hills. In 1997, Mitchell heard of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's efforts to build an upscale public golf community and wanted to be involved. As president, Mitchell spearheaded the Rivercut project and the golf community opened in 1998.
Current projects: Mitchell is working on Rivercut's Single Site Home Parade, which will feature high-end custom homes. In addition to the Single Site Parade, the development of two maintenance-free neighborhoods is also scheduled for 2000.
Management philosophy: "I feel the key to management is surrounding yourself with people who have an enthusiastic attitude for life and a positive perception of themselves. To be successful, you must have a team effort focused on the attainment of the company's purpose and goals," Mitchell said.
Spare-time pursuits: "When it's warm I enjoy playing golf socially and professionally. When the weather turns colder, I take my German shorthaired pointer dogs hunting for quail and pheasants. The 'Mitchell girls,' as I call them, hunt in six states from South Dakota to Texas."
