Buyer, Paul Mueller Co., 1600 W. Phelps. Paul Mueller Co. was established in 1940 and is a leading manufacturer of stainless-steel processing equipment serving the food, beverage, dairy, chemical, pharmaceutical, thermal storage and water distillation industries. In December 1997, Mueller renovated a former factory in downtown Springfield and opened Springfield Brewing Co., 301 S. Market, a restaurant and microbrewery that serves as a showcase and pilot facility for Mueller's products. Now a publicly traded company, Mueller reported 775 local employees in 1998. Owen began working for Mueller in 1979. He worked his way up to the purchasing department in 1989 and later served as the project manager for Springfield Brewing Co.
