An estate planning law firm that rebranded this summer has expanded into Christian County.
Ozarks Legacy Law LLC owner David Payne said he opened an office in Nixa on Oct. 11 at 830 W. Mount Vernon St. in the West Side Plaza shopping center. It’s the third location for the firm, which he started in 2009 as David Payne Law LLC. The company rebrand occurred in June, he said, in conjunction with the pending opening of the Nixa office and hiring of attorney Bill Petrus.
“We are estate planning attorneys at the firm, which is inclusive of small businesses of all kinds, including the family farm. That’s exactly what we’ve been doing the last four or five years,” he said of the firm’s focus on estate planning and small-business representation, noting he wanted the name to more clearly reflect the work it does.
Payne started his practice in Aurora, before adding an office in Republic’s Wildwood Plaza in January 2020. He declined to disclose startup costs for the 1,750-square-foot Nixa office or the five-year lease rate with Magers Management Co. LLC.
Petrus, who has over 30 years of law experience, serves as the primary attorney at the Nixa office, according to a news release. He leads the office’s three-person staff, Payne said.
“Our firm’s approach is to develop a trusted relationship with our clients that lasts years and not merely a one-time, get-your-documents-done-type transaction,” Petrus said in the release. “Our commitment to each and every client is to be there for them when it matters most.”
While Nixa is the second office added by the firm in as many years, Payne said he doesn’t foresee any more growth for Ozark Legacy Law’s footprint.
“Definitely at this stage of the game, three offices is kind of the landing spot for the business model,” he said.
