Ozarks Food Harvest receives 200K eggs

Posted online
Ozarks Food Harvest this week received a donation of over 200,000 eggs from Neosho-based Opal Foods.

With the latest gift, Opal Foods increased its egg count to Ozarks Food Harvest to nearly 357,000 for the year. In March, the company donated over 151,000 eggs, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

“With the rising price of eggs, this incredible donation could not come at a better time for local families struggling to make ends meet,” said Denise Gibson, Ozarks Food Harvest’s development and communication director, in a news release.

Since its partnership began with Opal Foods in 2008, the Springfield food bank has received some 850,000 eggs.

The protein-rich food goes toward families in Ozarks Food Harvest’s 28-county service area. Over 30,000 individuals per week receive food from the nonprofit, according to the release.
