Ozarks Food Harvest fundraising campaigns launch

Posted online
Two fundraising campaigns benefiting Springfield nonprofit Ozarks Food Harvest launch this week.

1 Million Meals
Arkansas-based Arvest Bank yesterday launched its 1 Million Meals campaign to benefit the Springfield food bank and other nonprofits across Arvest's territories.

The Sept. 3-Nov. 1 food drive calls for nonperishable food and monetary donations at Arvest branches in Springfield and Nixa from customers and employees in an effort to provide meals for those in need served through Ozarks Food Harvest's 28-county network, according to a news release.

Last year, Arvest's two-month campaign raised 1.8 million meals for nonprofits in the 120 communities the bank serves.

“Being a part of this campaign allows us to serve the growing number of families and individuals who are struggling with hunger in the communities we serve,” said Lindsey Neddenriep, public relations manager for Ozarks Food Harvest, in the release.

Hungerthon
Ozarks Food Harvest is partnering with Alice 95.5 tomorrow for the 16th annual Hungerthon fundraiser.

The radio event hosted by Alice 95.5 disc jockeys Kevin Howard and Liz Delany seeks to raise $125,000 for the Springfield nonprofit, according to a news release.

The event runs 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday and 6-10 a.m. Monday.

Donations garnered through the fundraiser would go toward Ozarks Food Harvest's weekend backpack program, which distributes some 55,000 bags containing 333,000 meals annually so children can eat during weekends away from school, according to the release.

Last year's Hungerthon raised $128,901, enough to provide 420 children six meals a weekend for an entire school year. More than $1 million has been raised through the event since 1999.[[In-content Ad]]
