The money will cover roughly half of the project’s cost for the Ozark Parks & Recreation Department.
The skate park will be located in front of the Ozark Community Center off Highway 14. Dubbed The OC, the 73,750-square-foot community center is slated for completion in June.
Ozark Parks and Recreation Director Dodee Matthews said her department is ready to start building the skate park.
“The new park will give kids a safe place to ride, diverting them from major roads,” Matthews said in a news release. “The park will also give residents the opportunity for other outdoor activities such as bike riding and walking.”
The Land and Water Conservation Fund program provides matching grants to state and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Since 1965, more than 40,000 projects have received grant funds nationwide.
