Ozark receives grant for trail development

Posted online
The city of Ozark received a $157,894 grant to complete the third phase of its Finley River Greenway trail.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund provided the grant, which will cover half the cost of a project to extend the trail from the Finley River Bridge in Ozark’s downtown park south to 10th Street.

“We are so happy to have this grant to help make everyone’s life much better. Hopefully this will bring a much healthier environment for our community,” said Ozark Mayor Donna McQuay in a news release.

The development project includes the development of the trailhead, comfort station, lighting and amenities.

The conservation program derives its funds from federal recreation fees, sales of federal surplus real property, the federal motorboat fuels tax and mineral receipts for areas of the continental shelf.

In July, the city of Willard received a grant from the same program to make trail improvements.
