Mountain Grove-based Ozark Mountain Creamery has issued a voluntary recall of 500 gallons of skim milk from the Missouri marketplace, including locations in the Springfield area.
According to the State Milk Board, in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and Department of Health and Senior Services, a sample collected Oct. 14 tested positive for high residual phosphatase, which may indicate unpasteurized or improperly pasteurized milk that can contain harmful pathogens. The sample was collected during a randomly scheduled, routine inspection and tested in St. Louis County, according to a news release.
The 500 gallons of recalled milk is packed in one-half gallon, glass bottles with the date stamp "10/24." The milk was bottled Oct. 7. According to the release, no other dairy products from the company are being recalled.
The recalled skim milk may have been sold in locations including Dillons, Hy-Vee, MaMa Jean's and Homegrown Food stores and Horrmann Meats Farmers Market in Springfield; and Harter House in Nixa, the release said.
Anyone who purchased the product may return it to the store from which they purchased it.
