OxyContin maker expected to file for bankruptcy

Purdue Pharma, the maker of popular opioid OxyContin, is expected to file for bankruptcy, Fox Business reports.

The pharmaceutical company earlier this month offered between $10 billion and $12 billion to settle myriad lawsuits related to alleged deceptive sales practices to push the painkiller.

The bankruptcy filing is expected as state attorneys general and Purdue officials have been unable to agree to settlement terms.
