Overland Park green lights $350M City Place

Posted online
The city council for the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kan., on Monday approved rezoning and financing mechanisms for City Place, a $350 million mixed-use development on 93 acres.

City Place would comprise 1,382 luxury apartments, a 140-unit senior living center, 600,000 square feet of office space in four buildings and 40,000 square feet devoted to retail. Construction is expected to begin this summer and be complete by 2021, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

The development group of BK Properties LLC awaits one last approval on its plans – expected to come in about three weeks – from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. BK Properties requested the Army Corps move and improve a streamway corridor that runs south of the development tract near the corner of College Boulevard and U.S. Highway 69.
