Camp Barnabas’ Emmy Nod
Southwest Missouri’s Camp Barnabas could be part of an Emmy celebration on Aug. 27. ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” has been nominated for a primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Reality Program, based on its episode featuring the nonprofit camp in Purdy. Camp Barnabas, which serves children with special needs, was the focus of the reality show’s Oct. 16 episode. The television network, local businesses and more than 3,000 volunteers renovated the camp in a week, creating a new home for directors Paul and Cyndy Teas, a volunteer bunk house, a media center, sewer and underground electrical lines, asphalt on the main road and improvements to the camp’s high-ropes course and playground. Emmy winners will be announced at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 on NBC.
