Springfield author and speaker Jennifer Rothschild is having perhaps the biggest two weeks of her career. Rothschild was featured on the Feb. 28 episode of the “Dr. Phil” talk show, followed by a featured segment on “The Billy Graham TV Special” that airs March 3–11. On “Dr. Phil,” Rothschild, who is blind, gives advice to parents who are raising blind and deaf triplets. The show’s studio audience received copies of Rothschild’s book, “Lessons I Learned in the Dark,” which also was featured last fall on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” causing it to rise to No. 380 from No. 68,000 on Amazon.com rankings.
“Dr. Phil,” which draws an estimated 7 million to 10 million viewers, airs at 3 p.m. on KY3 and at 10 p.m. on CW15.
Rothschild also is the subject of a five-minute feature story on Billy Graham’s magazine-format show. The segment, about Rothschild’s experience losing her eyesight at age 15, airs at 7 p.m. on varying days on KSPR33, KY3, KOLR10 and FOX27.

Decorize Inc. was featured on HGTV’s special presentation March 4 of the International Furniture Show 2007, which previews new items in the furniture industry. During the show, co-hosts Monica Pederson and Steven Lee took viewers to the High Point International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., to see innovations and trends in furniture, accessories and home furnishings.
Springfield-based Decorize will unveil its spring Guildmaster collection at the High Point show March 26–31. The company also will introduce two new
collections – Signature Black and White, and Design Fusion.
Environmental Excellence
The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications through March 16 for its Choose Environmental Excellence Business Award. A business will be honored for environmentally responsible actions and specific efforts it has made to improve the environment in Springfield. The award will be presented at a spring luncheon, where other awards, including those by Ozark Greenways and Watershed Committee of the Ozarks, will be distributed. Slice of Nice
Springfield’s Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club has donated $164,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, pushing the nonprofit above its $4.2 million capital expenditure fund-raising goal. The campaign was launched four years ago. Sertoma’s funds will be doled out as needed for expansion and improvements projects, equipment and supplies. Executive Director Pat Gartland says about 15,000 Springfield area youths annually are involved in the Boys & Girls Clubs program, which operates three full-time units and conducts a summer outreach program.
