Over 226K Missourians use ACA exchange ahead of deadline

Posted online
With the deadline for open enrollment coming this weekend, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports over 226,000 Missourians already have selected a plan or re-enrolled though the federal HealthCare.gov platform set up by the Affordable Care Act.

The deadline is Feb. 15, according to a news release.

According to the HHS, as of Jan. 30, 88 percent of Missourians who selected health insurance plans were eligible, on average, for $284 per month in tax credits. On average, credits reduce Missouri consumers’ monthly premiums by 77 percent.

As of Jan. 16, 59 percent of those who utilized HealthCare.gov were re-enrolling and 41 percent were first-timers.

Nationwide, roughly 7.75 million people have signed up or re-enrolled since open enrollment began Nov. 15.
