Ozarks Technical Community College has tagged Springfield entrepreneur Paul Sundy to receive its 2013 Excellence in Business Award.
Sundy, who started his entrepreneurial career in 2003 and has focused largely on downtown, has owned and operated 16 eating and drinking establishments, including Big Whiskey's American Bar & Grill, Parlor 88 Lounge & Eatery, Opus Cigar Bar and Dublin's Pass Irish Pub, according to a news release.
In 2011, Sundy co-founded English Management, which operates event management at the Gillioz Theatre. Through the company, Sundy played a role in proposing an ordinance later approved by City Council allowing alcohol to be served at community events on Park Central Square.
The release said Sundy employs 350 through his various endeavors. He holds an associate degree from OTC and currently serves on the OTC Foundation's board of directors.
Sundy is scheduled to receive the award April 12 at Bass Pro Shops' White River Conference Center. The Excellence in Business Award recognizes entrepreneurial success, community achievement and challenges overcome.
Last year, OTC presented the award to Jack and Peter Herschend, co-founders and co-owners of Herschend Family Entertainment Corp.[[In-content Ad]]
