“The new building has separate classroom areas for the college students, larger rooms for the children, and viewing areas for lab student observation,” said Connie Harmon, manager of the Early Childhood Education Center, in a news release. She noted that other programs also will benefit students in psychology, sociology and education programs, because they will be able to observe the children’s interaction.
The general contractor for the center is DeWitt & Associates, with architectural design by Stephanie D. Ireland of Ireland & Associates Inc. Engineers for the project were Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; Packard Engineering, structural; and Deka Engineering LLC, civil, with interior design by Interior Planning Consultants Inc.
Originally, the dedication ceremony was to be held in July, but it was postponed after a hot water pipe burst.
Classes at the facility started in August. [[In-content Ad]]
