Ozarks Technical Community College is scheduled to host a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 27 for its Table Rock campus in Hollister.

The campus, which is located at 10698 Historic Highway 165, is scheduled to open in the fall semester of 2013, according to a news release.

“We are looking forward to being a part of the Stone and Taney County communities for many years," OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon said in the release.

OTC purchased 8.25 acres, including the former Crockey's Restaurant, in December 2010. The city of Hollister later donated a contiguous .83 acres, bringing the total to 9.08 acres.

During the summer, the vacant restaurant was demolished, paving the way for construction, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

Hollister School District citizens voted in April 2010 to join the OTC district, allowing - among other community benefits - for Hollister residents to pay in-district tuition to attend the college, the release said.

According to OTC's Web site, in-district tuition is $86 per credit hour, compared to $121.50 per credit hour for out-of-district residents and $159 per credit hour for out-of-state students.

OTC hit a record enrollment of 15,179 students this semester, according to SBJ archives.
