Gibson is a career center operated by the Reeds Spring public school district.
The LPN program is the only post-secondary program offered at Gibson; all of its other programs are designed for high school students, according to a news release. The Reeds Spring school district decided to discontinue its involvement with post-secondary education and approached OTC several months ago.
“Gibson’s LPN program already has a solid reputation and draws students from a wide geographical area,” OTC President Hal Higdon said in the release. “Assuming operation of this program will allow an immediate expansion of not only our nursing program, but also educational opportunities in the Branson area.”
The one-year LPN program has the capacity to serve 40 students. Its current faculty will stay in place, and the program will not relocate. The Reeds Spring school district also will donate the program’s furniture and equipment to OTC.[[In-content Ad]]
