Representatives from both institutions met today at OTC’s Springfield campus to sign an agreement that will offer credit transfer and degree completion opportunities for OTC students studying criminal justice. Representatives from the Springfield Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri Highway Patrol also attended the news conference.
This is the first agreement of its kind for OTC and MSSU, according to a news release.
“This is a great opportunity for our students,” said OTC President Hal Higdon. “Their early coursework or associate’s degree in criminal justice will transfer to MSSU, allowing students to seamlessly continue their education.”
OTC will provide space for classes taught by MSSU faculty.
The agreement – targeted specifically at students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice – also includes provisions for online classes and ensures that OTC students are eligible for transfer scholarships at MSSU.
“Our students in Springfield may never have to leave Springfield,” said Joel Doepker, OTC’s director of public relations and communications.
