Higdon was unanimously chosen during a special board meeting. His term begins July 1; founding president Myers retires June 30.
Higdon currently serves as vice president for administration at Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, Miss., which has about 15,000 credit and 17,000 noncredit students.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Alabama and a master’s of education and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from University of Southern Mississippi.
“We believe Dr. Higdon is the best choice for the college and the community,” board President Don Clinkenbeard said in a news release. “Based on a thorough study of each candidate and following due diligence, we determined that Dr. Higdon is the best person for the job.”[[In-content Ad]]
