OTC honors Turner family in naming ceremony

Posted online
Ozarks Technical Community College at 2 p.m. will host a dedication ceremony for the Turner Family Foundation Student Lounge, located in the college's Information Commons West building.

“The Turner Family Foundation has made it possible for us to provide a much-needed resource for our students, and we are grateful for their continued support of OTC,” OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon said in a news release.

Since 1999, the Turner foundation has made 27 gifts totaling more than $165,000 to the OTC Foundation, the fundraising arm of the college. In addition to the student center, the donations have supported student scholarships, and faculty and staff through the annual Excellence in Education Awards.

In 2008, Bill Turner, who serves as chairman of Great Southern Bank, was given the OTC Excellence In Business Award for work on behalf of the college. His wife, Ann Turner, was a founding member of the OTC Foundation Board of Directors 1996-2006, including a term as president. Their daughter, Julie Turner Brown, was a board member 2006-2011.

“The investments that the Turner Family Foundation and the Turner family have made in OTC have helped to provide many financial and facility resources for our students,” added Cliff Davis, vice chancellor for institutional advancement and executive director of the OTC Foundation, in the release. “We look forward to working with them in serving our community for years to come.”[[In-content Ad]]
