OTC chooses Nabholz for Lebanon facilities expansion

Posted online
With a bid of about $3.1 million, Nabholz Construction was awarded the contract for parking and infill for Ozarks Technical Community College in Lebanon, according to an OTC news release.

The expansion, made possible because of a $2.6 million donation in December 2009 from Reuben and Mary Lou Casey of San Clemente, Calif., comprises two buildings and 13 acres of land in Lebanon.

The donation is the largest in OTC’s history, according to Springfield Business Journal coverage.

The expansion also is helped along by a $600,000 federal award to OTC. Seven Missouri community colleges are sharing a $5 million grant from the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration to the Missouri Department of Higher Education.

OTC spokesman Joel Doepker said four new computer classrooms with 104 computer workstations will be built.

“The point is to provide opportunities for people who may not have or have limited access to Internet,” Doepker said, adding that the college also would offer Internet-use classes.

Construction is expected to begin in October, with completion anticipated in June 2011.

Nabholz will renovate the facilities to include classrooms, offices and computer space, the release said.
