Automobiles may be entered into the show between 9 a.m. and noon for $15, and awards will be presented at 3 p.m. The event will take place on the OTC campus, at the corner of Central and National.
Cars will be separated into 25 categories for vehicles and three for motorcycles. Entrants can include but are not limited to GM and Ford street machines, street rods, Corvettes, mini-trucks, older pickups, t-buckets and special interest cruisers. Motorcycles can be Harleys, metric cruisers or sport bikes.
Awards will be given for president’s choice, best engine, best paint, dean’s choice and best interior. Three trophies will be given in each category.
Various student groups and classes also will participate and provide entertainment, food and crafts.
“We’re hoping to showcase all of our technical programs that range from accounting to welding,” Shirley Lawler, dean of the school’s technical education division. “Culinary hospitality will have a barbeque and cater it, graphic design technology will take pictures and do screen printing on T-shirts, machine tool technology will have custom designed key chains, fire science technology will have an antique fire truck. We’re going to try and get all the programs out.”
Last year the show raised about $1,200 for SkillsUSA, an OTC organization that prepares students for careers in trade, technical and skilled-service occupations.[[In-content Ad]]
