OTC awarded $2.2M grant

Posted online
The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded Ozarks Technical Community College a $2.2 million grant.

Funded through the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training program, the grant is slated to be used to improve the college's health services and sciences initiatives, according to a news release.

"Enhancing these programs will provide more career opportunities for graduates to enter the health care industry," OTC Chancellor Hal Higdon said in the release.

Earmarked for the college's technology-based health care programs, grant funding uses include:
  • the creation of hybrid classes for OTC's associate of science in nursing and occupational therapy assistant degrees;
  • the addition of a biomedical equipment technical option to the associate degree in industrial maintenance;
  • an enhancement of veterans' services through credit evaluation; and
  • an expansion of class options for underserved counties.
