O'Reilly Development gets green light in Joplin

Springfield-based O'Reilly Development Co. LLC and Joplin master planner Wallace Bajjali Development Partners LP have been given the go-ahead to build an approximately $35 million transitional senior living community in the city's redevelopment area.

The Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee this week unanimously approved the developers' certificate of need application for the planned facility that would include an 80-bed assisted living center and 100 independent living units, according to a news release.

"Our partnership with O’Reilly Development will bring a much-needed asset to the Joplin market and demonstrate the resiliency of the Joplin community to build back from the May 2011 EF5 tornado," Wallace Bajjali CEO David Wallace said in the release.

Springfield architecture firm H Design Group LLC is contracted to provide design services for the senior living community situated on 20 acres.

O'Reilly Development Co. was formed Jan. 1 after owner Pat O’Reilly split with Miller-O’Reilly Co. Inc. Miller-O’Reilly Co. is known for developing senior housing at The Fremont and student housing with The Monroe, Deep Elm and The Jefferson, as well as tax-credit funded affordable housing projects such as Forest Park Apartments in Joplin and Kemper Village in Boonville.

O’Reilly Development also has under contract a historic redevelopment in Kansas City and a senior housing job in Blue Springs.[[In-content Ad]]
